The Volte is an online peer-to-peer clothing platform that provides designer fashion rentals for women in Australia.[1][2][3] The company was founded in 2018 and is based in Sydney.[4][5][6][7]

Overview[edit]

The Volte was founded in 2018 by four friends, Bernadette Olivier (CEO), Kym Atkins, Genevieve Hohnen and Jade Hirniak.[8][9][10][11][12][13][14]

The platform operates as a peer to peer service where users can rent out their dresses and clothing accessories to other users on the platform.[15][16][17][18][19]

In April 2019, The Volte raised $700,000 in a seed funding round from Australian investors.[20][21][22][23] In April 2021, the company received additional funding from investment firm Betterlabs.[24][25]

In October 2022, the company started integrating with retailers and designers to list their newly purchased items directly on the platform, allowing designers to earn royalties from sold or rented items.[26]

In May 2023, The Volte raised $2.7 million in a Series A funding round led by eBay Ventures.[27][28][29][30]
