Salisbury Hockey Club[edit]

Salisbury Hockey club is a field hockey club based in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England.

About[edit]

Founded in 1895, Salisbury Hockey club runs adult and junior teams from its base at the Salisbury and South Wiltshire Sports club. Salisbury HC is affiliated to England Hockey and is part of the South Central Hockey region.

The Astro Turf pitch is predominantly used for hockey however it is used by other sports.


Club Structure[edit]

Adult Hockey[1][edit]

Salisbury Hockey club run squads and training for a wide range of abilities and ages across the men’s and women’s senior sections weekly, from September to April.

The men's section currently manages six squads, including the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th XIs, and Striders and Strollers squads for veteran players, typically from 40+. All teams play competitive games on Saturdays.

The women’s section currently runs five regional league squads 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th XI, as well as the 6th XI side for newer junior players and adults who may be new or returning to the game or developing their skills further. League matches are played on Saturdays, and interclub / friendlies are arranged on Sundays.

Mixed hockey is played from May to July as part of the club run summer league.

Training occurs throughout the year.

Junior Hockey[1][edit]

Across the junior section, there are a range of squads and opportunities to play competitive hockey; with mixed squads for U8s and U10s, which then split into girls and boys training and teams from U12, U14, U16 and U18.

To facilitate the transfer of juniors to senior hockey junior players are invited to join senior training, once a junior player reaches Year 9. Development games are also available to allow junior's to gain experience of playing with adults.
