On review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an approval rating of 92% based on 49 reviews, with an average rating of 7.4/10. The website's consensus reads: "If it's nowhere near as distinctive as the groundbreaking work of the studio that inspired it, Squaring the Circle remains an informative primer on The Story of Hipgnosis."[3] Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned the film a score of 76 out of 100, based on 18 critics, indicating "generally favorable" reviews.[4]
