Soane ʻAsi (born circa 1963[4]) is a Tongan former rugby union player. He played from the second five-eights to fullback, but he played as right wing during his only international cap[5].

Career[edit]

ʻAsi's only cap for Tonga was during the 1987 Rugby World Cup match against Canada on 24 May 1987, in the McLean Park, Napier.[6]. In that same match, however, he was replaced at the 22 minute by Lemeki Vaipulu[7][8]. Outside the field, he worked as a road foreman for the Ministry of Works of Tonga for between 1980 and 1987[9].

After career[edit]

After his retirement as rugby player, ʻAsi migrated to Auckland, New Zealand, where he works as laboratory technician[10] for Winstone Aggregates form 1996[11]. As of 2022, he is a counselor of the Papakura Latter Day Saints church stake presidency[12].
