Susan Stuebner

Susan D. Stuebner is an American academic administrator serving as the ninth president of Colby–Sawyer College since 2016. She is the incoming president of Marietta College.

Life[edit]

Stuebner is from Deephaven, Minnesota.[1] She earned an A.B. in psychology at Dartmouth College.[1] She completed an Ed.M. in administration, planning, and social policy and an Ed.D. in higher education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.[1]

Stuebner researches leadership, decision-making, and the sustainability of private liberal arts colleges.[1] At Albright College, Stuebner was an assistant women's basketball coach, admissions counselor, and special assistant to the academic dean.[2][1] She worked as a freshman proctor and director of freshman intramurals at Harvard College and was a teaching fellow at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.[1] Stuebner was a special assistant to the president at Wheelock College.[1] She was an academic counselor at Dartmouth College while she completed her dissertation.[2] She worked at Lycoming College for ten years including as the vice president for administration and planning.[1]

Stuebner was the executive vice president and chief operating officer at Allegheny College.[2][1] On July 1, 2016, Stuebner became the ninth president and a professor of business and social sciences of Colby–Sawyer College.[1] She holds the Volanakis Family Presidential Chair.[1] She was succeeded by interim president Laura A. Sykes.[3] On July 15, 2024, Stuebner becomes the 21st president of Marietta College.[2]

Stuebner has two children.[2]
