Shi Yi Liu, known professionally as Eric Reprid, is a Canadian rapper most recently recognized for his distinguishable songwriting, as of May 2024. He rose to fame as an independent singer and songwriter based in Vancouver. Dropping out of college in late 2016, much to the displeasure of his parents, he started out as a featured artist on his former friend and ex-producer Marc Wavy (then known as Clueless Kit)'s song "By My Side," featuring fellow artist Kora. From there, he has continued to cement his career as an underground artist "from the V", dropping his first album "Who Cares." in the summer of 2018, and reinventing the word "season" with "Bloom" in early 2020. Some of his popular pieces of music include "Cold World", "Vam", and more.[1][2] His 2020 single "Cold World" has since reached 55 million streams on Spotify[2] and was nominated for Rap Recording of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2021;[3][4] he was the only independent musical artist nominated in that category. After "Cold World" and the eponymous EP in Dec. 2020, he came back in summer 2021 with "Thousand Times" and a 3-song EP; "Good Riddance." In late 2021, he released 3 singles from his upcoming mixtape, later known as "3TERNITY" and released in March 2022, including the viral song "Vam." His last project with his producer and friend Marc Wavy, 3TERNITY was a way for the artist to let his listeners experience his hometown, Vancouver. Following his fourth project, he released 3 singles between July 2022 and January 2023 leading up to his next project, titled "RIDDY'S REVENGE," including the songs "Hate On Me" and "8am." 2023 also brought Eric's 25th birthday and a single titled "25" released in November. In February 2024, Reprid went viral all over X and TikTok for his questionable lyrics in his then-latest single "SUKI," and continued his attention with his next single "GINGER" in April and his "On The Radar Freestyle" in May 2024.
